Semi-gloss acrylic varnish. The sides are painted a mid-tone neutral that compliments the painting.
I became intrigued with the image of a doorway in my previous work "Stairway to Heaven"
and so 'found' another doorway in the abstract underpainting of this canvas.
I worked the rock forms, and collaged painted papers on
to break up the monotony and bring more balance to the composition.
There are gold accents to the left of the doorway, on the
steps and on the handmade papers.
It's great fun to 'build' a 3 dimensional look into a painting.
