© Melody Cleary. Almost finished - blurry, but I'll repost at completion. 24 x 24 x 1.5 acrylic on canvas. I've not used brownish tones a lot in recent years so this is fun to explore them again. Layers of color add depth.

I'm building up surface on another 24 x 24 x 1.5 inch canvas - covered up an old painting with some gesso, glued on some paper collage pieces, and applied 2 to 3 glazes of color. It will change quite a bit. I'm basing this on the smaller 10x10 "Meditation Place #2" that I posted earlier.
MELODY CLEARY, OREGON ARTIST - CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE AND ABSTRACT PAINTINGS, FINE ART PRINTS AND NOTECARDS
© Melody Cleary. After my art critique group met, I realized the dark green areas of this painting needed some lightening up. I like it much better now. It's very hard to photograph the blue color, but this is a very close representation.
The green on her body is more of a spring green tint. See the tiny gold dots on the fans.
© Melody Cleary. 9 x 12 image on paper. Mixed papers and acrylic on watercolor paper. The mat isn't weighted down, so pardon the shadow on the edges.
I've been enjoying these dog days of summer - some time off. This collage piece has been awaiting completion and I believe I'm almost there. Possible title: "Fumiko's Fan Dance". It evolved without any planning, as these figuratives all do. I just see shapes and interpret them. Coincidentally, our son is leaving for Japan tomorrow for 2 weeks of gigs with his band. Interesting, huh?
